Citi Global Wealth (CGW) is focused on serving the needs of clients across the entire wealth spectrum. It has been created by combining the Wealth Management businesses across Citi Global Consumer Bank and Citi Private Bank.   By building on the strengths and capabilities across Citi, we intend to transform the way we serve clients across the wealth spectrum, delivering the full range of high tech and high touch capabilities Citi can offer, and ultimately help them achieve their goals.

Citi Global Wealth serves over 500,000 clients across its global footprint in Asia, Europe, Mexico, and North America. It delivers the full range of wealth products across investments, banking, lending, insurance, trust services and financial planning & advice.

The Role

The financial landscape and growing customer preference to do business in the digital channels has been quickly evolving over the past five years with change on multiple fronts, including evolving client needs, market entry of nontraditional competitors and a shifting landscape of emerging technology providers. This has significantly impacted the way we interact with our clients, the products we create and the strategies we deploy. In order to compete with fast growing entrants that are non-traditional financial services institutions, we are focused on scaling our digital wealth capabilities, and modernizing our overall technology stack and infrastructure.

Reporting to the Head of Citi Global Wealth Technology, the Head of CGW Private Bank and NAM / LATAM Technology will support our newly created Global Wealth Management business unit in the Americas, the role will partner with various wealth tech heads across customer journeys to execute on our vision and build out our product and platform offering across self-directed investment products, automated investments (Robo), goals planning, saving goals, and financial advisor tools in the region. As a senior leader in Citi, the role will partner closely across the organization with teams aligned to front office, service & operations, marketing, product management, and across varied technology teams to deliver unified experiences, innovative technology solutions, and best in class digital products.  The role will also be responsible for fostering a strong partnership between both Consumer and Institutional technology organizations within region.

In addition, Head of CGW NAM LATAM Technology will be responsible to work closely with CPB global head, NAM PB head, NAM consumer wealth head and LATAM head and be responsible to support them for all the business needs covering their business and be their team member and an advisor to them for Technology and Digital.

We're looking for a leader who has the experience of integrating and building platforms, through collaboration and partnership while keeping in mind the intention to deliver a unified global platform that will be ahead of competition when Transformation is done. An ideal candidate will be comfortable with not only leading and influencing but also diving into the technical weeds and rolling up their sleeves.

The Head of CGW NAM LATAM Technology will be responsible for the both managing delivery, engineering of unique regional capabilities and regional regulatory engagement and delivery of technology platforms for the Wealth Continuum. Final outcome will be a global wealth platform that delivers to our wealth customer segments. The candidate must have experience in the following four areas of wealth and banking technology:

1.  Core Wealth Management technology knowledge and details that impact the region across the wealth and investment products, banking, lending and skillsets across digital and tools for our Relationship Managers and Financial Advisors to support our clients.

2.  Understanding the needs of the market, regulations, client and banker and working across to ensure that they are delivered. Owning the responsibility of unique capabilities and enhancements needed for the region end to end.

3.  Core Banking technology experience of card and bank systems will be required to build a holistic 360-degree financial picture for clients, for seamless integration of all products, services, and content across the bank. Prior experience in call center, branch, and IVR systems will be critical as candidate will also be responsible for transformation of colleague platforms, improving sales and service capabilities.

4.  Integration and delivery leveraging a global framework, scalable to efficiently and expeditiously deploy services across wealth tiers and across regions, in a disciplined and controlled manner, leveraging data architecture and platforms, and with a keen focus on automation of manual processes and controls.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Execute on the vision, mission, and focus for wealth technology for NAM & LATAM that address the key investment and financial needs of our customers
  • Drive objectives, key risks, and metrics to measure the success of the products and digital experiences put into the market
  • Create a strategy across all technology components to accelerate delivery against aggressive business targets in Asia
  • Drive integrated technology solutions to increase product acquisitions, adoption, and usage from our CitiGold customer segment, up to and including our highest net worth Private Bank clients
  • Delivery of Wealth Platforms across customer segments in the wealth continuum.
  • Partner closely across all lines of business to fully align on the overall strategy and prioritization in accordance with the evolving P&L priorities, defining a technology strategy to drive commercial growth
  • Take responsibility over the Technology roadmap that is part of the Asia Integration Plan
  • Manage, inspire, and grow the existing technology organization and define best practices (e.g., architecture principles, build vs. buy, global reuse, frictionless partner integration, acceleration of end-to-end digitization and automation, modernization of assisted channels systems)
  • Of utmost importance: ensure the quality of all engineering delivery across both agile and back-office waterfall operating models, with ability to dive into daily stand-ups, interpret and review source code, validate controls & testing procedures, lead incident management and problem resolution with urgency, embed controls of risk into software engineering methodologies, and optimize performance, stability, and customer experience across an extremely complex and comprehensive tech stack.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Leveraging the Citi Global Wealth technology vision, and translate the vision into detailed engineering roadmaps, and lead the cross functional delivery of the product, driving all digital and technology initiatives through the entire product lifecycle for NAM & LATAM.
  • Develop a customer experience that is easy and intuitive and elegantly presented with high performance and availability for all customers, include our high net worth and private wealth clients
  • Be fluent in rapid technology cycles, self-service, automation, robotics, data, and passive investment strategies
  • Understand digital currency technology and the impact to the wealth and financial markets while collaborating with a growing ecosystem of FinTech service providers for new-to-market solutions in this arena
  • Understand the regulatory market, security solution, secrets management, and identity / authorization solutions, and solutions that reduce risk
  • High level of interaction and synergy with business heads, product, operations, design, strategy, and analytics senior stakeholders
  • Manage a team of engineers, BAs and PMTs to oversee the transition from strategy to implementation: from roadmap to releases and sprints, from epics to stories, validating the technology solutioning and architecture along the way
  • Cultivate an agile and results-driven culture in which innovation and excellence are expected
  • Continuously focus on building and developing technology talent that has the business acumen and technical capability to deliver world class products in a connected, mobile environment
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets. This will be accomplished by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

  • 15+ years' experience in overall IT (Product Management, development and Software Engineering) with hands on knowledge and getting into the details
  • 10+ years’ experience managing large or multiple technology development efforts within a major line of business
  • 10+ years' managerial experience directly managing high-performing technology teams with demonstrable and measurable results
  • 10+ years’ experience with technology, digital transformation and modernization of architecture and methodologies
  • 8+ years’ experience with enterprise level program/project management, enterprise architecture, digital technology, consulting, and/or management experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in integrating platforms at scale, multi-jurisdiction and from different Legal Vehicle structures.
  • Deep knowledge of wealth solutions, in both private bank and consumer wealth spaces, including retirement, education funding, multi-generational / estate planning, investment solutions, and integration with providers of life solutions such as Legal and Accounting for holistic end-to-end wealth solutions
  • Consistent record as department head, managing teams and large, strategic cross-functional or enterprise projects
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization and influence non-directs through data and a vision in a variety of contexts
  • Deep technical knowledge, with the ability to break down the work involved in solving them, and the impact of those decisions on business and product teams
  • Seasoned, passionate, and mission-driven digital technology professional with a demonstrated ability drive and manage the execution of a global vision, and deliver top-tier results
  • Demonstrated sound business judgment, analytical acumen, consumer-centric mindset and communication skills
  • A record of fostering a clear vision, translating that vision to action, and delivering products and services that deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Deep consumer product knowledge and passion around emerging technologies and how they will change consumer experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent work experience- Masters is preferred
